In the forest she was born
Shaken from the trees
Hugging oak and beech
Counting budding leaves
Before they burst into maturity

The darkest side of joy
Pined away between the trees
When sunbeams appeased
The shiny emerald leaves
Portraying meadowy sweetness

She gazed at the splendour
Of the forest's mighty trees
The silence of a breeze
Soothes the withering leaves
Echoing laments of nightingales

In the forest music was born
And died within bare trees
But it shall be reborn in you & me
Like a painter colouring leaves
